January Grit met on a sidewalk in New York City in the Autumn of 2017. Inspired by the city's rhythm and restlessness they began creating music together. In January of 2018 the duo took a train from New York to Toronto where they spent six months gigging around the city and self-recording numerous songs. They were selected as winners of Toronto's Underground Sounds Competition with Universal Music Canada. In June of 2018 January Grit spent a month performing around Sydney, Australia and have now settled in Orange County, where they are finalizing their debut album. January Grit  brings forward a unique sound, combining jazz, indie, and folk music.
